Read Console in familiar terms
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Source / repository / branch | Application code / its code repository / a version branch. Select the branch you want to deploy. |
| Build | Prepare code to run, such as compiling a frontend. A successful build does not prove the app is reachable. |
| Runtime / start | The process that runs your app after building. Use a production server command that stays running. |
| Port | The port the app listens on, such as 3000. It must match the port in Console. |
| Organization / org | The scope for resources and private networking. Products in the same org can call one another privately across projects. |
| Public / private network | Public endpoints serve external clients. Private endpoints connect products in the same org. Signing in does not place your laptop on the private network. |
| Environment variable / secret | Configuration outside code, such as MYSQL_HOST or a password. The app determines the variable names. |
| Domain / DNS / HTTPS | A website name / records pointing to its destination / encrypted web access. Website HTTPS does not establish database TLS. |
| Database / cache | Long-lived source data / temporary copies for faster reads. Do not keep orders only in cache. |
| Deploy / release / rollback | Publish an app / a running version / return to an earlier app version. Rollback does not undo database changes. |
| Logs / metrics | Messages from builds and running code / measurements such as CPU, RAM and traffic. |
