Combine app and VPS

Run your main app on Flash Deploy and custom server workloads on VPS.

What you will build

For example, Flash Deploy runs the web app, a VPS runs a custom Docker worker/service and managed MySQL/Redis provide shared data. Choose VPS only for the part that needs OS control.

Console steps

  1. Deploy the main app and verify its public URL, logs and release history.
  2. Create a VPS for the custom runtime or background service.
  3. Choose its OS, plan, location and SSH authentication.
  4. Keep the app and VPS in the same organization and configure the app with the service's private address/port. Check the service's listening interface, firewall and authentication.
  5. Use browser console/SSH to inspect boot or network failures.
  6. Monitor costs for the app, VPS and data services.

Responsibility boundaries

Flash Deploy supports app release workflows and logs. VPS provides the OS control needed for custom packages or Docker, with server operations remaining your responsibility. Use managed data services when you do not need to run a database yourself on VPS.
