Store app data in MySQL

Combine Flash Deploy and MySQL for persistent accounts, orders, content and settings.

What you will build

A backend or server-rendered application that stores business data in MySQL. Flash Deploy runs the code; MySQL keeps the data across app releases. Create both products in the same org to use private networking.

Console steps

  1. Create Managed MySQL and wait for connection details.
  2. For an app in the same org, copy the private host and port from Connection. Use public endpoints for clients running outside DLEZ.
  3. Add MYSQL_HOST, MYSQL_PORT, MYSQL_USER, MYSQL_PASSWORD and MYSQL_DATABASE, or the variable names your code reads, to server-side env.
  4. Deploy/redeploy the app to apply configuration.
  5. Run migrations using your app's tooling, then write and read a test record.
  6. Inspect MySQL Queries, Storage, Bandwidth and Connections. Redeploy and verify the test record still exists.

After deployment

For connection failures, check applied env, org, endpoint and schema. For slow queries, inspect indexes and pagination. Review storage/query limits before they affect production and establish a tested backup/restore procedure.
